Silver felt his teeth sink into flesh with a sickening crunch. He always forgets how powerful he was sometimes, so dangerous, a predator that stalks its prey. He felt his body thrum with power as he rid this world of another evil but distracted by his own rush of adrenaline he failed to notice his prey slipping out of his grasp and running faster than Silver could process what just happened.
He… failed…
He didn't have his normal weapons on him and had to resort to such… violent and vicious ways. He was a monster. How could he commit such a heinous act and still fail? Even with his sometimes more brutal ways he still always succeeded, never failed his god; and now he had.
Silver felt his eyes sting with tears, all the fight and adrenaline leaving his body and leaving him with nothing but dread and fear. He had to make this right. It was fine, if he just begged for forgiveness enough and proved he could do better then everything would be okay. He would atone for his sins and make this right.
He begged and pleaded at the heavens above, hoping Tyr could hear him.
I didn't mean to i'm sorry, I committed such a violent sin you have every right to be disappointed in me. Please forgive me Tyr. I can prove myself a worthy vessel for your cause. Please Please forgive me.
Silver didnt know how long he kneeled there in the grass, hoping that he didn't screw up his life's cause. He was interrupted by a voice right behind him, a looming shadow cast over him and for a split second he thought it was an answer to his prayers but looking up it was Exodus, looking down at him with something in his eyes that Silver couldn't quite place.
" Get. Up. " He growled, looking down at Silver.
Silver startled at his voice. He sounded so angry. Why was he angry? Did he see what I did? Is he disappointed? " Oh- Exodus! "
"Get the fuck up." Exodus repeated, his tempter growing thinner by every word
" I - "
" Silver."
" What? I am just praying to Tyr, Do - Do you want to join me? " A little hope leaking into his voice. Maybe I can still do some good. Maybe I'll be forgiven.
Exodus grips his shoulder. "I know what you did. "
"I didn't do anything." Silver said nervously. He wasn't supposed to lie but old habits die hard I suppose.
Exodus pulled Silver up by the shirt "Don't beg. "
"I have to, I need to.” Silver pleaded. Why didn't he understand I have to do this? This is the only way to gain forgiveness. He had to repent. Atone for the blood on his paws and coating his mouth.
Exodus held his grip tighter, and Silver tried to find a way out of his grip. Wow this guys strong what the-
Silver tried his best to plead with the tiefling " You don't have to do this, you know? You could just-"
" I really don't get you."
"You don't have to? You could just- Can't we just forget about this, I'll finish praying. You can join me and it'll all be fine." Silver stuttered out. He just needed to finish begging then he could go train until he passed out. That always made him feel better.
" Do not beg for forgiveness. “
“ Wh- “
“ You didn't earn it. Why would they forgive you?“ Exodus questioned. What is this guy on about? Of course they’ll forgive me. I just have to earn it.
“ They forgive everyone.“
“ Bullshit. “ Exodus yelled, as his grip tightened. “ They wouldn't forgive me. “
“ You haven't done anything. “
Exodus smiled at that. “ Nothing that you don't know, my friend. “ He sneered.
“ You are a good person.“ Silver stated. Sure he’d seen some of Exodus’ more questionable methods of defeating evil but everyone had their own way and as long as it's for a good cause then it can't be too bad.
Exodus eyes widens and he lets go. “Are you serious? “
“ Of course I am! “ Silver exclaimed, stars in his eyes and hope in his voice.
Exodus seemed to pause then stuttered out “How could you hurt someone and… just..“
“ I didn't. “
“ You did and you'll do it again. “
Silver tilted his head in confusion as if the solution was oblivious “ That's why I need to ask for forgiveness. “
“ You won't stop though will you? How does that gain you forgiveness? “ Exodus constituted to hound him with questions “The blood is on your hands. “
Silver looked down at his paws and looked back at the tiefling, the rush of feelings from earlier coming back and filling him with dread. He felt dirty, unclean; stained and blighted. He needed to get rid of this feeling, this itch under his skin that won't go away. The feeling of disapproval and disappointment.
The feeling of being a failure.
He needed to leave. This conversation wasn't productive and he had more important business. He didn't have time for questions from some heretic who decided to question him and his god. He tried his best to put himself together and he pushed past Exodus to go finish his praying.
He wouldn't become a failure. This was his purpose.
