Someone broke into prince Cyrus' bedroom in the middle of the night in an attempt to kill him. They failed of course, Cyrus was more then competent enough to defend himself; but his parents saw it fit to hire a full time guard just in case. She does annoying things like protecting him and caring about him and he's honestly had enough. Juniper isn't happy to be stuck with the spoiled brat of a prince but she needs the money and wow does the royal family pay well.

Prince Cyrus isn't particular pleased with being a prince but he's come to accept it at this point. He's not thrilled to accept it, but the alternative is worse. He has a brush with death and his parents flip out. Less then ideal but he can deal with that. What he can't deal with is the new guard they've hired for him.

Juniper was in desperate need of a job to take care of her mom and sibling and the Oleander castle happened to be hiring recently. She gets the job. She has no clue how but she won't look a gift horse in the mouth. If only her client was half as pleasent.

The Oleanders are the royals that run the Grim Kingdom. Despite it's dreadful name, its quite a beautiful area of land; lush with tall, dense forests. They lead fairly, if not slightly unorthodox; but their people like them and that's the most important part.
